The whole Media reporting of the goings on in Ukraine is becoming as weird and self serving as the various factions conduct in the whole dispute.
Having the TV on in the background usually on a News Channel means the constant sniping of networks loyal to one side or another is very obvious. Now, don’t get me wrong like many i long ago accepted that the media would only report what versions of news fitted their particular agenda at the time.. But I’m really getting sick of the News Networks digging at each other about how the Ukraine situation is being reported on their respective networks.
Ever found just the thing your looking for on eBay, Only to find that the seller is only offering to send it by the slowest delivery service the human race has ever created?
If the answer is yes, your not alone. It seems in recent years starting approximately when eBay started to ‘re-invent’ itself in it’s desperate bid to become another Amazon style website rather than it’s traditional ‘flea market’ appearance that along with the exodus of normal sellers their has also been an exodus of morals about delivering the item in timely fashion. To add insult to injury many ‘Buy it Now’ items now demand immeadiate payment yet when the postage details are checked state that dispatch can in many cases be 3-4 days and then only a snails pace delivery service offered.
Now at first glance it probably looks like a strange comment, but having been reading a number of very reliable reports about Music Industry and Movie/TV producers ongoing war against what they consider to be copyright theft across europe, a number of issues seem to rear their ugly heads (and not just lawyers).
Having spent years persuing the out and out bad guys of the online pirated content industry it seems the nasty little b**stads that are also known as FACT, MPA and lawyers in general have now started on small non profit services started to provide free services to Deaf people and Foreign language viewers. Services that were usually free and derived no income at all either from advertising revenues or by way of charging for their service. One classic example was from Sweden where a group of viewers provided transcripts for TV programmes so Deaf and other language viewers could follow what was going on in the program have been shut down accused of Copyright Theft!
As a regular BBC viewer and particularly of the News Watch feature, its good to see viewers complaints about standards being represented however, it seems when ever a response is issued by the BBC, all to often it seems to amount to little more than a lame excuse and desperate attempt to justify whatever the action was in the first place that prompted the complaints.
Why can’t the BBC collectively, just accept that there are at the very least a percentage of UK viewers (Viewers who have no option other than to bankroll the BBC via the compulsory UK TV licence) who consider the action to be suitably unacceptable to the point of complaining in the first place, and issue an straight forward apology? and ideally learn something from it all as well?
A good example was the complaint about coverage of the Thai police officer being maimed by a grenade.. Which ever idiot came up with that pathetic response from BBC News MUST be sacked along with the idiot who decided to screen the obscene footage in the original report in the first place!
The BBC, National asset or National Disgrace?
like many who have grown tired of Facebook and their seemingly constant mission to extract ever more personal and sensitive information from it’s users the simplicity of Whatsapp along with its ability to operate regardless of what type of mobile or network that you have Was a massive plus point.
Has anyone been following the troubles in Kiev?
The one thing that strikes me is that these troubled times boil down to the Ukrainian president accepting a bail out/trade deal from Russia instead of a trade deal with the EU. These recent rounds of disturbances have apparently claimed some 25+ lives (protesters and police). We have protesters firing weapons at police and burning the city centre’s Independence Square and it’s buildings and the police firing back.
Nobody seems to dispute that the protesters were given the opportunity having made their point to pack up and go home without fear of reprisals, yet the troubles just seem to escalate. We are now 3 months into these protests With no end in sight.
Should the UK police and law enforcement community itself now be on trial for wasting huge sums of taxpayers money and wrecking reputations without due cause?
After decades of missed opportunities to arrest national disgrace Jimmy Saville for his attrocius crimes the law enforcement community and the CPS launched a massive witch hunt called Operation Yewtree, from which we now have the spin off trials where it seems the police and CPS have gone to any lengths to somehow redeem themselves by putting anyone remotely famous in the dock who has had even the slightest loopy or obsessed follower fabricate an allegation against them, no doubt with sights set on selling stories to the media for a small fortune. They tried with Coronation Street actor William Roache and Legendary DJ Dave Lee Travis (DLT) and the ridiculously long list of allegations against them were revealed as just that.. Ridiculous!
As an Englishman who has only visited Scotland once and never felt the desire to return i don’t really much care whether Scotland remains part of the UK or goes Independent. I do however care when some nationalist muppet like Alex Salmond and his bunch of SNP buddies in Holyrood start claiming that they can go independent and have the UK that they so desperately want to leave, underwriting an independent Scottish economy.
Were you one of the poor souls who on Sunday tried to use your debit card or ATM and had the transaction refused as the IT Systems at Halifax, Lloyds, Bank of Scotland and TSB went into melt down?
It seems no sooner than things quieten down after the Reverend Flowers/Co-Operative Bank fiasco then another UK bank finds another way to disgrace the banking industry and this country even further. This time it’s it’s HSBC… what a surprise!
HSBC has admitted to the BBC it secretly implemented a policy of demanding proof about what people wanted to withdraw money from their accounts for… and if they were not satisfied with the proof the customer couldn’t get their money.
